SATE scoops 2024 Air Mobility Prize at CiTTi Awards

The Sustainable Aviation Test Environment (SATE) scooped The Urban Air Mobility Award at this year’s CiTTi awards, recognising the considerable progress the project has made in turning sustainable aviation into a reality.

Criteria for the prestigious award include innovation in urban air mobility (UAM) technology and systems, integration with existing urban transport infrastructure, safety and regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability, and the potential to improve urban living by offering new, efficient, and cleaner mobility solutions.

Although SATE’s work applies more broadly across the Highlands and Islands than specifically to a typical urban area, the judges felt that the project’s collaborative approach, work with communities across the Highlands and Islands, and “impressive” sustainable transport improvements merited recognition.

The CiTTi awards bring together policymakers, place stakeholders, and project partners from across the length and breadth of the UK, to highlight achievements and developments in active travel, clean air, congestion reduction, electric vehicle charging, fleet innovation, last-mile delivery, public transport, road safety, shared mobility and smart parking.

Jayne Golding, SATE manager, said: “We’re so proud to have been recognised for our efforts to decarbonise aviation across the Highlands and Islands with this award from CiTTi. SATE is at its best when our partners from across the public, private and third sectors come together in pursuit of our shared goal, and this award is a testament to their efforts over the past 12 months.”

The awards are organised by CiTTi Magazine, who work to highlight the current issues, concepts and technologies that are transforming how people, goods and materials move in and around towns and cities.
